As unique as its owner - the Porsche 911 becomes one of a kind with technology from REA JET
For once, this is not a dry report on the possible effects of the coronavirus, supply chain disruptions, trade fair cancellations or other mood killers! News like this is what keeps us motivated, dreaming and looking ahead!
From the epitome of the very, very individually and personally designed "Timeless Machine", for example, the new Porsche 911.
The Zuffenhausen-based luxury manufacturer has set itself no less a task than printing the owner's fingerprint directly onto the hood - it could hardly be more personal and unique. It's really cool and looks much better than any other known alternative, such as foiling!
The experts at the Porsche Paint Shop scrutinized almost all the systems on the market for the direct printing process and examined their suitability and process stability. In the end, the REA JET DOD 2.0 TITAN generation, newly developed in Mühltal near Darmstadt and manufactured in Germany, won the contract.
With the help of our 32 nozzles REA JET DOD 2.0 print head, the paint is applied to three-dimensional components automatically and without spray mist. "Thanks to the separate control of the REA JET nozzles, each drop of paint can be applied in a targeted manner," explains Christian Will, Head of Production Development at Porsche AG. "The complexity lies in the triad between robot technology (control, sensors, programming), application technology (REA JET print head, graphics handling) and paint technology (application process, paint).
Even if hardly anyone from our ranks will stand out as an owner of a 911 in the future, we see this as a huge compliment and an honor for REA!
With REA JET, REA develops and manufactures versatile industrial coding and marking systems for product-specific, contact-free direct printing with ink, laser and functional fluids.
