Laser coding and marking solutions for rubber
Some rubber products have to withstand a lot - and so do their markings and labels. With our laser markers, we have a suitable solution for permanent markings for every elastomer - no matter how high the stress.
Foaming or engraving
PERMANENT LASER MARKING ON TIRES AND OTHER RUBBER SURFACES
Products made of rubber can be marked very well with a laser marking system. The rubber surface can either be foamed by the laser to produce a raised, colored marking. Or the laser removes some rubber material and engraves the marking into the surface. In both cases, laser marking is extremely robust and durable. This makes laser marking ideal for marking tires with QR codes in accordance with EU tire marking regulations, for example. This gives consumers access to the "European Product Registry for Energy Labelling" (EPREL) product database with detailed information on the respective tire.
What is important for laser coding and marking solutions for rubber products?
- Matching to the properties of the respective rubber compound
- Machine-readable markings on different surfaces
- Consideration of chemical processes such as vulcanization
- Fast, simple and economical coding and marking technologies
Industrial laser coding and marking solutions are used throughout the rubber industry. Rubber products such as seals, hoses and tires are provided with different coding. These support the identification, tracking and management of rubber products throughout the entire production and distribution cycle.
Application examples for rubber coding
- High-contrast 2D markings
- Marking of rubber sleeves
- Coding of seals, hoses and cable sheathing
- Rawhide marking with colored production codes
- Permanent marking and serialization by laser marking on finished tires (QR code)
This regulation defines the content and appearance of the EU tire label. Since May 2021, all tires have to bear this label. It provides information on tire parameters such as fuel efficiency, wet grip, noise development and tire performance in snow and ice. Truck tires also require a printed QR code that refers to the "European Product Registry for Energy Labeling" (EPREL) product database.
