In many cases, automated inkjet coding and marking systems are very well suited for automated, fast and precise marking of foams and for styrofoam printing. To ensure that the printed batch numbers, manufacturer information and logos are long-lasting and clearly readable, the ink has to be carefully selected. Depending on the surface structure and properties of the rigid foams, flexible foams or molded foams, inks adhere differently. The ink color should also be well matched to the foam color for optimum contrast. White pigmented inks are suitable for dark foams, while we have had good experiences with colored inks on anthracite foam. If foam elements are to be printed with cutting lines, stencil lines or assembly lines, the foam printing also has to be very accurate and the print heads of the inkjet coding and marking systems must be precisely aligned.
