Inkjet coding and marking solutions for building materials
Building materials are the foundation of our everyday lives and require precise and durable coding and marking solutions. Our inkjet and color coding and marking systems are designed to ensure durability, readability and traceability, even under demanding conditions.

VERSATILE MARKING IN THE BUILDING MATERIALS INDUSTRY
Building materials are marked with various codes and information. These are used, for example, for quality assurance and traceability as well as to protect against counterfeiting. They enable efficient logistics, provide warnings or disposal instructions and contain assembly instructions. CE marking is required by law for every building material, with which manufacturers confirm that they have verified the product and that it meets EU safety, health and environmental protection requirements. Construction products that are potentially harmful to health also have to bear the UFI code, and chemical building materials may have to be marked in accordance with the European REACH Regulation.
DURABLE MARKINGS UNDER ALL CIRCUMSTANCES
As the construction industry is often exposed to adverse environmental conditions and building materials are exposed to wind and weather, the markings have to be particularly durable and permanent. At the same time, the codes have to be clearly legible - for people and for machines. This is a real challenge with building materials such as construction timber with rough surfaces or polystyrene boards.
What is important for inkjet coding and marking solutions?
- Reliable work under harsh environmental conditions
- Permanent, weatherproof markings, even on difficult surfaces
- Fast, simple and economical coding and marking technologies
- Legal requirements (UFI Code, REACH Regulation)
AUTOMATED AND INTEGRATED INKJET CODING AND MARKING SYSTEMS FOR BUILDING PRODUCTS
Industrial inkjet coding and marking solutions are used throughout the building materials sector. Many different materials are marked with codes, for example on bricks, concrete, metals, wood, plastics and more. They support the identification, tracking and management of building products throughout the entire production and distribution cycle.
Application examples for construction product labeling
- Marking of textile flooring adhesive (secondary packaging) by continuous inkjet
- Bag marking of bulk goods with Large Character Printer
- EAN 13 coding in wet-on-wet printing (direct printing instead of labels)
EXAMPLES OF BUILDING MATERIAL LABELS
See for yourself how wide the range of markings and markings in the building materials industry is. Our innovative inkjet marking solutions contribute to the quality assurance and traceability of building materials.
THE RIGHT SOLUTION FOR EVERY CUSTOMER REQUIREMENT
According to the CLP Regulation (EU Chemicals Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008), the UFI code has to be printed EU-wide on all mixtures that are classified as hazardous to health. UFI stands for Unique Form Identifier.
The EAN13 code is applied to most products using labels. However, this is often difficult with building materials, as labels do not adhere well to thin battens and hoses, rough wood or smooth metal panels and drywall profiles. With wet-on-wet printing as a label replacement, this is possible fast and in very good machine-readable quality.
Our coding and marking solutions help to automate the construction industry. Among other things, they use an REA inkjet printer to apply the architect's plan drawings to shell walls so that the shell builders then know where cavity walls have to be and where the technical infrastructure should be located.
